Book Review: The Rebel Blue Ranch Series by Lyla Sage – A Perfect Binge-Worthy Cowboy Romance Collection
If you’re looking for a delightful, binge-worthy cowboy romance series that keeps getting better with each book, look no further than The Rebel Blue Ranch Series by Lyla Sage. This series is a perfect introduction to the world of cowboy romance, filled with lovable characters, swoon-worthy moments, and a steady dose of heartfelt drama. Whether you’re a seasoned romance reader or a newcomer to the genre, this collection is a must-read! This whole series so far is 5 stars for me because it is:
- Binge-Worthy: Each book in the series builds on the last, creating a seamless progression that’s hard to put down. Whether you’re reading in one sitting or picking it up between your daily tasks, this series is the perfect escapism.
- Cute and Heartfelt: Sage’s ability to write sweet, emotionally resonant romance stories shines in every book. From the first sparks to the grand declarations of love, these books are filled with all the cute moments that make your heart flutter.
- Perfect for Cowboy Romance Newcomers: If you’re new to the genre, like I am, The Rebel Blue Ranch Series is an excellent place to start. The setting is familiar and easy to love, and the characters are grounded in relatable emotions. It provides a fun romance story that’s perfect for the Spring time as the weather starts to warm up.
Book 1: Done and Dusted
The first book in the series introduces us to the picturesque Rebel Blue Ranch and its rugged yet tender-hearted cowboys. Lyla Sage does a great job setting the stage with vibrant descriptions of ranch life, and the read immediately connects with the characters.
The story centers around Emmy who returns to her family’s ranch after a riding accident and Luke, Emmy’s older brother’s best friend. He spent most of his childhood antagonizing her. It’s been years since he’s seen her, but when she walks into his bar and back into his life, he can’t take his eyes off her. There’s chemistry from the get-go, and the slow-burn romance is addicting, making the book difficult to put down. While it’s the introduction to the series, the first book already establishes the charm and appeal of cowboy romance—think big skies, hardworking ranchers, and a dash of family loyalty. You instantly become invested in all of the main character and side character’s stories.
Book 2: Swift and Saddled
The second installment focuses on one of the other Ryder children, Weston, who is a happy positive character that you can help but root for. He hires Ada, an interior designer, to work on Wes’s dream project. When Ada arrives in Meadowlark, she finds herself in their local dive bar where she meets a handsome cowboy. When she leads him to the back of the bar, he leaves her with a kiss that most people can only fantasize about only to find out the next day, he’s her new boss.
The characters in this book are different from Emmy and Luke in book one. They both have their own internal struggles such as depression and self-discovery. The characters feel drawn to each other no matter how one of them tries to deny it. Another swoon worthy romance by Lyla!
Book 3: Lost and Lassoed
Probably my favorite so far! This book follows Emmy’s best friend, Teddy, and her brother Gus. Teddy is going through a lot of changes in her life and feels lost, unsure what to do. Teddy is used to being a leader, but now she feels like she’s getting left behind, wondering if life in the small town she loves is enough for her anymore.
Gus has a lot on his plate. He doesn’t know what’s harder: taking care of his family’s ranch, or parenting his six-year-old daughter, who is solo parenting over the summer. When his workload starts to overwhelm him, he has to admit that he can’t manage everything on his own. He needs help and Teddy’s the only option he’s got. Teddy decides to use the summer to try and figure out what she wants out of life. Gus, on the other hand, starts to worry that he’ll never find what he needs.
This is the cutest enemies to lovers romance book I’ve read!
Be on the lookout for the last book in the series Wild and Wrangled coming out April 15th!
